Maples Advises East Point Asset Management on the Launch of its First Fund

Maples and Calder, the Maples Group's law firm, is pleased to have advised East Point Asset Management ("East Point") in respect of the launch of their first fund involving a seed commitment of $150 million from Hong Kong-listed financial services firm, Sun Hung Kai & Co. ("SHK & Co").
East Point is a newly established independent hedge fund firm that seeks to deliver consistent risk-adjusted, absolute returns.
A team based in the Group's law firm in Hong Kong acted as Cayman Islands legal counsel to East Point. The team was led by Co-head of the firm's Asia Funds & Investment Management team, Ann Ng and assisted by Associate, Josie Ainley. Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP acted as international legal counsel to East Point and DLA Piper acted as Hong Kong counsel to SHK & Co.
Commenting on the transaction, Ann Ng said, "The Hong Kong investment funds market continues to strengthen and East Point is a welcome addition for many keen investors. East Point were a pleasure to work with and we were delighted to support them in their endeavour."
