OVERVIEW

Sophia is a partner of Maples and Calder's Corporate and Latin America teams in the Maples Group's Cayman Islands office. She has a wide range of experience in general corporate and finance transactions, including joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, structured finance, leveraged finance and investment fund transactions, including hedge funds and private equity funds. As part of the Latin America group, Sophia works with clients originating from Latin America as well as those investing into the region. Her practice also includes licencing and physical presence establishment particularly with respect to industrial and ultra high net worth individuals looking to form their family offices in the Cayman Islands.

BACKGROUND

Sophia joined the Maples Group as a trainee in 2007.  She previously worked at CIBC Bank and Trust Company (Cayman) Limited as a Corporate Officer where she was responsible for managing the corporate administration activities at CIBC. Sophia has been recommended by Legal 500.

Sophia is a member of Rotaract Blue Cayman Islands (sponsored by the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman Central) and the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association (CILPA).
