Maples Group Hires Yann Hilpert, Growing its Luxembourg Asset Finance, Fund Finance, Securitisation and Capital Markets Capabilities

02 May 2024

Maples and Calder (Luxembourg) SARL, the Maples Group's law firm in Luxembourg, is pleased to announce the appointment of Yann Hilpert as a Partner and co-head of its Finance practice, further demonstrating its commitment to growing its presence in the region.  With the ever-increasing demand for time-sensitive, multilingual, and industry-specific legal advice, the firm has continued to seek out the best talent in the region and invest in key personnel to join its growing network.

Yann is a highly experienced banking and finance lawyer with over 20 years’ experience practising in Luxembourg. His practice focuses on leveraged finance, secured lending transactions, fund finance, debt capital market, securitisation and asset finance.  Yann will work alongside Arnaud Arrecgros as co-heads of the firm's growing Luxembourg Finance practice, and he will advise private equity houses, financial institutions, alternative investment funds, multinational companies and private clients. With long-standing experience advising purchasers, financial institutions, airline and shipping companies on aircraft and shipping transactions, Yann will work closely with the firm’s global Structured Finance and Asset Finance practices.

The firm's Luxembourg Finance practice continues to go from strength to strength and recently advised on a landmark Luxembourg securitisation undertaking1 and was praised by The Legal 500 as a team that "is very knowledgeable, responsive and very focused on getting the deal done for the client on time."

Johan Terblanche, Luxembourg Managing Partner said, "Yann has established an outstanding reputation in the market and we are delighted to welcome him to our growing Luxembourg practice and are confident that his considerable experience will complement our Luxembourg and global finance practice." He added, "Luxembourg continues to be an attractive and flexible jurisdiction for securitisation vehicles and we continue to see high volumes of fund finance transactions in particular."

Tina Meigh Global Head of the Finance practice, "Our global finance practice continues to grow, and Yann's arrival is consistent with our vision and strategy of building a high calibre team in key markets important to our global clients."

Yann added, "Having worked in the industry for many years, I have long admired the Maples Group and I am incredibly excited to join this highly ambitious international organisation. I look forward to working with the team on the ground in Luxembourg and across the Group's global network."

Earlier this year, the Luxembourg firm announced the promotion of Paul Chiellini-Morge to Of Counsel in its Corporate team2. Over the last 12 months, the firm has appointed a number of senior lawyers at Partner, Of Counsel and Associate level, including the addition of Manfred Dietrich who joined as a Partner in its Funds & Investment Management team. These appointments follow a period of exceptional growth at the firm and are in direct response to increasing demands for Luxembourg legal services from new and existing international clients.

The Maples Group has a global footprint of 16 offices worldwide and its European locations include Dublin, Jersey, London, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. With over 900 of its nearly 3000 global team members based in the region, it is clear to see the Group's commitment to expanding its European presence.
