GLOBAL EXPERIENCE, GAINED LOCALLY

STUDENT PLACEMENT PROGRAMME

Here at the Maples Group, we understand the importance of partnering with different universities throughout Ireland and supporting students as early on in their academic journey as possible. One way in which we do this is by partnering with a number of university careers services to offer student placement opportunities for students as part of their undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes. In recent years we have partnered with a number of universities including University College Cork, University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University, University College Limerick and National University of Ireland – Galway.

We recognise the importance of combining academic studies with on the job learning and, therefore, we ensure students get hands on experience while completing their placement with us. Students are treated like paralegals and gain real life legal exposure. Students gain practical work experience while applying the legal knowledge that has already been acquired throughout their degree so far. A student placement with the Maples Group is a great way to build the foundations of your career path.

All students are fully paid and spend the duration of the placement in a single legal department. Additionally, all students who complete a placement with the firm are eligible to be considered for a future Traineeship with the firm.

Students can apply through their university by contacting their placement officer.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

The Maples Group is delighted to partner with University College Cork in awarding one postgraduate student a €5,000 scholarship. Now in its second year, the 'Maples Group Scholarship - LLM in Business Law' benefits one postgraduate student studying for the LLM in Business Law each year.

This year, Liana Kelly was awarded it following an application process involving the submission of a personal statement and an interview with a panel comprising of representatives from the Maples Group and UCC School of Law.

“LLM study can be really valuable in terms of ensuring competitiveness in the jobs market through gaining specialist knowledge and upskilling. Maintaining wide access to LLMs through financial supports is hugely important at a time when our students are under considerable financial pressures as a result of the cost of living crisis. The School is thus very grateful to the Maples Group for continuing their generous provision of this scholarship which contributes to addressing those needs and ensuring wider access. My sincere thanks to Maples and my congratulations to the second recipient of the Scholarship.”
