Maples Group Supports BVI Educational and Conservation Efforts
31 Jan 2022
The Maples Group is pleased to share its recent collaboration with the National Parks Trust of the Virgin Islands ("NPTVI") that supported with the production of the recent edition of the Virgin Islands Environmental Atlas. The sponsorship, in partnership with a local donor, included funding for the production of 1,500 copies of the atlas that were printed and made available for sale locally and to tourists.
First published in 2020, the Virgin Islands Environmental Atlas is the first of its kind to be produced locally and aims to help preserve, manage and bring greater awareness to the British Virgin Islands' ("BVI") natural landscape and biodiversity. Funds raised from the sales will support further production of the atlas as well as help fund the NPTVI's various programmes to protect and manage marine and terrestrial areas of natural and historic significance.
Commenting on the collaboration, BVI Managing Partner Richard May said, "As preservation and conservation of the environment and our oceans becomes ever more critical, the Maples Group is pleased to have partnered with the NPTVI on this year's Virgin Islands Environmental Atlas production. We hope that everyone finds the atlas informative and learns something new about the unique ecosystem of the BVI."
Dr. Cassander Titley-O'Neal, Director of NPTVI, said, "The National Parks Trust of the Virgin Islands is very pleased to have partnered with the Maples Group in continuing our education efforts. It is the continued partnerships with entities such as the Maples Group that allows the Trust to continue its conservation efforts over the last 60 years of our existence. On behalf of the Board, my Staff and I, we thank the Maples Group for their contribution and look forward to a continued working relationship."
As part of the sponsorship, each team member in the Group's BVI office also received a copy of atlas.
