OVERVIEW
Robin is a partner in Maples and Calder's Finance team in the Maples Group's Cayman Islands office. He has extensive experience in international capital markets, banking, fund finance, Islamic finance, structured finance (particularly CLOs), securitisations, repackagings, credit funds and other CLO investment structures and listings on the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange. Robin has extensive experience of advising investment managers and banks on structured finance orphan trust structures and on financings to unit trusts. He represents borrowers, large bank syndicates and managers on lending transactions and all types of secured transactions. Robin also has considerable expertise in all aspects of establishing and maintaining both closed and open-ended hedge funds as well as private equity funds in the form of corporate entities, limited partnerships and segregated portfolio companies and general corporate and commercial matters, including corporate reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions and joint venture arrangements.
BACKGROUND
Robin joined the Maples Group as an articled clerk in 2003. Since qualifying in 2005, he has worked in the Corporate, Finance and Funds & Investment Management teams in Hong Kong, Dubai and London. Robin has been named as a leading lawyer by Islamic Finance News and ranked as an 'associate to watch' by Chambers Global, where he is described as "very responsive and pleasant to deal with".
