Maples Group Expands Fiduciary Teams in London and Jersey

10 Mar 2022

The Maples Group has expanded its fiduciary services offering in the key European financial centres of Jersey and London with the appointment of two highly experienced professionals to its global team.

Structured finance specialist Emma Tighe joins the Maples Group's London office as Vice President, while Jodie Gray brings her expertise in private client and wealth management to the Jersey office, also as a Vice President.  These strategic appointments reflect sustained demand among our clients in this region for specialist corporate and fiduciary services and the group's comprehensive management services and professional support, in an increasingly complex cross-border structuring environment.

"Our clients represent many of the largest, most prestigious financial institutions and global investors and we will continue to add outstanding talent to our highly regarded team in Europe to support their endeavours," said Stephen O'Donnell, Global Head of Fiduciary at the Maples Group.  "We are delighted to welcome Emma and Jodie to our growing team.  Their specialist experience is highly relevant to the particular challenges that directors face in a perpetually evolving regulatory landscape.  With the support of our global network and institutional-class infrastructure, this approach allows us to add real value to the boards we support and serve upon, while providing the high-touch and seamless service on which our clients can always rely."

In her new position Jodie Gray will serve as a Jersey resident director on a range of client vehicles, including private equity, real estate and structured finance transactions.  She has over 25 years' experience in the financial services industry, encompassing roles in the banking sector, as well as offshore trust and other fiduciary services.  Jodie spent the last 16 years working with a well-established Jersey trust company, most recently as Associate Director in the wealth structuring group.  She operated as lead relationship director on a large number of matters including litigious situations, the implementation of a culture of excellence at the firm, dedicated to improving client service, in addition to enhancing risk, compliance and regulatory operational controls.

Emma Tighe brings over 14 years' specialist experience in structured finance to the Maples Group's London office, with a strong focus on structured debt capital markets and securitisation transactions.  She joins the firm from US Bank where she was a relationship manager within the CLO team.  In this position she was responsible for overseeing key client relationships and delivering complex transaction management across a portfolio of CLO deals, including collateral administration, paying agent, account bank and bond trustee services.

Previously, Emma worked with a major corporate services provider, with responsibility for transaction management across a portfolio of structured finance SPVs, including RMBS, CMBS, social housing bonds, student loans and aviation leasing.  She is highly proficient in effective corporate governance and has focused strongly on the evolution of ESG in structures leading to the enhanced development of sustainable finance.

These appointments serve to not only further enhance the Maples Group's fiduciary and corporate governance offering in London and Jersey but to reinforce the firm's industry leading European presence with a market-leading CLO team in Dublin and offices in Luxembourg and The Netherlands.  This latest expansion in Europe follows the recently announced growth of the Group's London Funds & Investment Management practice1, the largest UK-based offshore investment funds legal team, with the addition of experienced Partner Dan Beckett.
