Maples and Calder (Ireland) LLP, the Maples Group's law firm, is pleased to have advised CurrencyFair on the Irish corporate legal aspects of its merger with Assembly Payments, and on the investment from Standard Chartered into CurrencyFair.
Irish fintech CurrencyFair provides a money-exchange platform to consumers and businesses that aim to help users avoid large charges for exchanging foreign currency. Following this merger with Australian company Assembly Payments, employee numbers at the company will rise from 90 to 160 with plans to grow headcount to more than 450 people over the next four years.
A team based in the Group's Irish office advised CurrencyFair on this transaction, which is subject to regulatory and shareholder approval. The team was led by Patrick Quinlan and Deirdre MacCarthy, Partners in the Irish Corporate practice, who were assisted by Associate, William Darmody.
